The Art Competition
I wrote The Art Competition for my son Jamison who lives to create. He's my theater, lego, singing, and dancing kid. This book is all about the courage it takes to be seen — and how to hold winning and losing with the same steady heart. It's for kiddos ages 6 - 10.
The Buzzer Beater
I wrote The Buzzer Beater for my son Jackson who never leaves the court. He's played basketball since he was four years old. A few years ago he scored the buzzer beater in a game and he's been chasing that high ever since! This book is all about confidence, what it takes to show up for yourself and your team and the big moment when it's finally your turn. It's for kiddos ages 8 - 12.

What my family is reading
What I'm reading: Score by Kennedy Ryan - If you know me, you know that I've literally devoured everything Kennedy Ryan has written. I absolutely love her books.
Books my boys are reading: The Sour Grape by Jory John - we've loved all of Jory's books. Another favorite is The Smart Cookie. I love how he's able to weave so many lessons into his stories.
I've been working to get my older boys to read more chapter books and books that will make them think, so we're reading Stamped (for kids) by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.
RAISING CONFIDENT KIDS
How to talk to your kid about losing
Both of my new books circle the same truth, so it's been on my mind: kids need to practice losing as much as winning. Next time your child comes up short, skip "it's okay" and try "that was hard — and you kept going." You're naming the courage, not the scoreboard. That's the muscle that lasts.
